Mexico Legalizes Medical Cannabis

By TG - June 21, 2017

Our neighbor's to the south Mexico have taken the first steps in joining multiple countries as of late to make medical cannabis legal.  A decree issued by Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto confirmed that Mexico has legalized cannabis for medicinal use after overwhelming support from Mexico's lower house.  Pena Nieto's decree effectively eliminates the criminalization of the medicinal use of cannabis, CBD, THC, and all cannabis by-products, as well as legalizing the distribution and production of cannabis for therapeutic and medicinal uses.  Last year, President Pena Nieto also introduced a measure which would allow citizens of Mexico to possess up to one ounce of cannabis without penalties,  however that bill stalled in Congress.
By getting over the biggest hurdle on June 19th 2017 Mexico is on its way to legalization, certainly there will be bumps in the road as everything falls into place.  With Canada expected to have full cannabis legalization nationwide by July of next year and America's states trickling in almost everyone in North America will be able to get their desired relief for their needs and wants.
